One feels that it should have worked ... but, alas, not for me.

My msys/bin now contains "install.exe.manifest" and 
"install-info.exe.manifest". I rebuilt gmp-4.2.2 from a fresh installation, 
but I still get:

(Note that in this most recent build I've attempted to build and install a 
static library .. instead of the shared library that I inadvertently 
attempted to build originally. Is that likely to be relevant ?)

Perhaps I'm still doing something silly :-)
