You should probably stick to using all the versions from one release
(candidate, current, previous, etc.)  Certainly the gcc packages need to
all be from the same version.  With other packages you can most likely
mix and match (e.g. w32api should be completely independent of the
version of gcc) but unless you have a good reason you should just use
the "current" version.

I have no idea why the gdb packages are done that way when the rest are
.tar.gz.
