Then someone else decided to create a version of the compiler using those headers and import libraries without Cygwin. Thusly, minimal requirements for building native programs. I at some point asked the developer list about the name and it was agreed to live with it. SF has MinGW with MSYS as a environment choice. Changing the name now would not be in our best interest.
