Running msys.bat with the --norxvt option does not give you a "dos command box";
it gives you a fully functional bash shell, running in a native MS-Windows console
window.

You can resize it, or change font and colour options as you wish.  I agree that
the available font and colour options are rather limited, and it doesn't look
especially pretty, but it *is* functional -- what more do you want of a console
window?
