Hello, I have a program here, that uses Visual C++ 6, MFC and DirectX 7. My problem is that I want to 'port' it to GCC so that developers can freely contribute to the development without requiring them to use an expensive tool. I myself only have the Introductory version of VC++, which allows me to compile the program but do not permits its distribution (a splash screen is automatically inserted in every .exe so that I do not forget about that). I plan to replace MFC with a cross-platform library such as wxWindows or Gtk+ next. So I first tried to replace the VC++ compiler with MinGW: I did a makefile that uses all the includes and libraries directory of VC++, just to see if I first can release a legally linked application. Result: a 80+KB dump of syntax errors and ISO C++ non-compliance, and not any .o file compiled. That afraid me! And I would like to know your point: - Is it possible to compile Microsoft headers with MinGW? - Is my MinGW-porting task possible? - If yes, how much of the code will I have to rewrite? Thanks, -- Sylvain |
