Adding Mingw as included with Msys distro would only be, at the most, another 6 -> 8 minutes at 56kbps of download time. Maximum download time, at say, 14.4kbs might be an addition of 15 minutes -- enough time to take a coffee break. I am using broadband, so 3M of data doesn't really impact anything in terms of time. Biggest concern (from Mingw users?) seems to be that many of those who want to continue using "plain vanilla" Mingw, do not want to feel as if they are required to use Msys. I am not sure what the assumption is in terms of continuing to make available Mingw distro. Even so, afaik, there have been no plans to remove the Mingw distro or any of the Mingw related stuff (binutils, gcc, etc.) from SF. Is that still correct? Bottom line for me: Sure, sounds great to be able to download Mingw with Msys as long as Mingw related distros (binutils, etc.) are still available without limiting Mingw runtime, etc. to only being available through the Msys distro.
