Earnie: it would be much more effective, I think -- if you are not there already following my previous reply -- to do something like this: Strings of ``<Esc>:[anything]'' are no longer considered a path list. It isn't ":echo" that I need to have working, that was just diagnostics. If you are looking for something to 'see', exclude "<Esc>" (any case) followed by ":", followed by any word (because there are innumerable ex expressions that could come after the "<Esc>:").
