Yes  it has moved to libmingwex.a, as stated (perhaps, not clearly enough) in
the release notes. As indicated in the release notes you need to add
libmingwex.a to your list of libraries to use the extensions (including dirent)
.  This will change once a new release of GCC puts libmingwex.a in the specs as
a standard library.
