Here is a patch to fix some of the portmaker
inconsistences, such as inability to unpack archive,
incorrect build directory specification. Problems with
relative paths.

Thanks for this patch.

I already have a number of changes in my own CVS tree, not
yet committed.  Some of these address the same issues you
have incorporated; I also have fixes for other issues I have
noted.

I'll need to review, and merge your patch as appropriate.
