Are those underscores in the installation path name real?    

For MingW-1.0.1
GCC (2.95.3-5) expects to find cpp0.exe, f771.exe, etc in 
[location_of_gcc_exe]/../lib/gcc-lib/mingw32/2.95.3-5

Are they there?  

Do gcc --print-search-dirs to find out where gcc is looking.
