Java with 0.9.1 should work fine.  Have you run genxref to populate the 
database with identifiers - have a look in the indexes table in the 
database to see if anything has been indexed.

If you have run genxref but no identifiers have been indexed, the most 
likely cause is that you have an old version of ctags on your system. 
 You need exuberant ctags version 5 or higher.
