Coming to jEdit from textpad, there are only really 3 textpad features = that I miss in my daily editor use: 1) The facility to step the indentation back by one when I hit the = closing brace (i.e. hitting return on a normal line, keeps the current = indent, but as soon as I type the closing brace, the brace moves back = out to the previous tab stop) 2) Keypresses followed by down arrow take you down to the horizontal = cursor position before you started inserting text, it took me a while to = get used to it, but once I did, it comes in very handy for making = similar changes to multiple lines (e.g. abcdef\nabcdef - inserting 123 = after the c on line 1 and then hitting down arrow, the cursor ends up = immediately after the c on the second line.) 3) In find/replace it's possible to insert a counter in the replacement = text i.e. I can replace a particular piece of text or RE with an = incrementing number. I don't know whether any of these already exist and I simply haven't = found the right checkbox to turn them on yet, whether someone is already = developing them or whether it's a case of '*you* want them, *you* = develop them' One final question, I noticed in one of the screen shots, that there = appears to be some sort of to do list plugin, but as I can't find it, I = assume it's part of another plugin, could someone point me in the right = direction please? Thanks, Pat. |
