Sirs: I have just begun experimenting with jEdit (Version 4.3pre9 using java 1.6.0) on my Windows XP machine. It is a very impressive program, that I hope to adopt for my main text editor. However, I can't resolve the problem of associating jEdit with a file type so that when I double-click on a file it opens the file with jEdit. (Right-clicking on the file gives the option of opening the file with jEdit, and this works fine.) I tried to associate the file type with jedit.jars and that does not work. I tried associating it with jedit.bat and that sort of works. When I double click on a file, it quickly opens and closes an extra window. This is annoying; but I could live with it, except that, occasionally, it fails completely. I am currently using a modification of the furnished .bat file The FAQ under Usage Questions, File Management mentions jEditLauncher and jedit.exe. Apparently, I missed something since I don't believe I have a jedit.exe file anywhere. This is probably something very simple, but I really would like to get this working correctly. The archives have several references to this issue, but I have not found a solution. Thanks, Bob Robert. H. Fletcher, PhD rob...@ie... |
