Bugs item #228853, was opened at 2001-01-15 06:13 You can respond by visiting: http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=100588&aid=228853&group_id=588 Category: text area and syntax packages Group: minor bug Status: Open Resolution: None Priority: 5 Submitted By: Neil Short (neshort) Assigned to: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Summary: Cannot type on the EditorPane when NumLock active Initial Comment: Note: this issue may be related to another submission: [ Bug #126903 ] text area acts as if mouse button 2 was pressed ==== Problem: Cannot type in the EditorPane when the keyboard NumLock key is active. Additionally, a mouse left-click acts as a right-click. Current Solution: Deactivate the NumLock. Then, mouse left-clicks behave normally and user can type within the text area. Unfortunately, user cannot use the keyboard number pad to type numbers. ==== Further info: Using a standard American keyboard. Running JEdit on SuSE Linux 6.4 and KDE with KDM. JDK 1.3 JEdit 3.0Final. The exact same download runs fine on Windows '98II. Same Java VM. Maybe and maybe not related: I installed only minimal fonts with SuSE 6.4. This has not been a problem for me; but the terminal window displays loads of missing font messages when I run any Java program. ====== Discussion: Sun had a problem with the JDK 1.3 Linux Beta running on SuSE 6.4. It wouldn't compile or run programs. Sun resolved the problem for the final release (even though it was SuSE's fault it didn't work right in the first place). In light of this fact, JDK1.3 for Linux might be considdered sort of Beta in respect to SuSE 6.4. On the other hand, I am able to type within text fields on Java software of my own authorship. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- >Comment By: Slava Pestov (spestov) Date: 2002-01-16 01:33 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=2280 i'm going to close this bug since this is a jdk bug and there is no way for jedit to work around it. furthermore it's already mentioned on the 'compatibility' page. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Date: 2001-10-08 14:02 Message: Logged In: NO Same problem with Mandrake 8.0 after installing the Jdk 1.3.0.2 gained from Linux Magazines cover CD (should be a fairly recent file?). Other than that - a great editor. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Date: 2001-04-11 14:30 Message: Logged In: NO Just thought I'd add myself to the list as well. Same problem: numlock causes the left mouse button to behave like the right mouse button, and it is impossible to type in the editor with the numlock on. I simply turn off the numlock and everything works fine. Mandrake Linux, 7.2 J2SDK 1.3 (release 1) AMD 1.1 GHz Athlon KT-7A Raid motherboard 1.5 GB RAM ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Maurice de Chateau (morris01) Date: 2001-02-05 03:35 Message: On Solaris 2.7 with JDK 1.2.2, using jEdit 3.0.2 I encountered a similar problem: Some keys just don't work when the NumLock is active. There seems to be no problem with the mouse buttons. Also, the same version works fine under WinNT SP5. The keys that don't work are mainly the ones that are also deactivated on the numeric pad with NumLock (Insert, Home, arrows), but also the Backspace, Enter, Escape and function keys are rendered useless. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=100588&aid=228853&group_id=588 |
