Stefan, your error output shows that you are running with GCJ, which apparently still doesn't support all features that JabRef requires. Try with either Oracle's JVM or with IcedTea/OpenJDK, depending on what your Linux distribution (which one are you using?) supports. -- Morten 2011/3/21 Stefan Heyer <sh...@ia...>: > Hallo, > > i can not get JabRe>f running on my Linux-System, so i hope somebody can > help me. > The JabRef GUI is crashing during starting and i received there the > following error message: > > >>> JabRef$ java -jar JabRef-2.6.jar > > WARNING: You are not running a Java version from Sun Microsystems. > Your java vendor is: Free Software Foundation, Inc. > If JabRef crashes please consider switching to a Sun Java Runtime. > See http://jabref.sf.net/faq.php for more information. > > 21-Mar-11 9:55:05 AM net.sf.jabref.plugin.PluginCore initialize > INFO: Found 2 plugin(s): > - net.sf.jabref.core > (jar:file:JabRef-2.6.jar!/plugins/net.sf.jabref.core/plugin.xml) > - net.sf.jabref.export.misq > (jar:file:JabRef-2.6.jar!/plugins/net.sf.jabref.export.misq/plugin.xml) > > > ERROR while starting or running JabRef: > > java.lang.Error: java.awt.Conditional not found in > gnu.gcj.runtime.SystemClassLoader{urls=[file:JabRef-2.6.jar], > parent=gnu.gcj.runtime.ExtensionClassLoader{urls=[], parent=null}} > at > spin.off.AWTReflectDispatcherFactory.<clinit>(AWTReflectDispatcherFactory.java:139) > at java.lang.Class.initializeClass(libgcj.so.90) > at spin.off.SpinOffEvaluator.<clinit>(SpinOffEvaluator.java:38) > at java.lang.Class.initializeClass(libgcj.so.90) > at spin.Spin.<clinit>(Spin.java:67) > at java.lang.Class.initializeClass(libgcj.so.90) > at net.sf.jabref.AbstractWorker.<init>(AbstractWorker.java:20) > at net.sf.jabref.sql.DbImportAction.<init>(DbImportAction.java:33) > at net.sf.jabref.JabRefFrame.<init>(JabRefFrame.java:157) > at net.sf.jabref.JabRef.openWindow(JabRef.java:707) > at net.sf.jabref.JabRef.<init>(JabRef.java:171) > at net.sf.jabref.JabRef.main(JabRef.java:80) > at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(libgcj.so.90) > at net.sf.jabref.JabRefMain.main(Unknown Source) > > Please first check if this problem and a solution is already known.
