Hello Team, in the past time I have mailed to Chris description of different open issues which do not belong to the parts of FreeMind developed by me. It was consistent to our agreement that I should not fix bugs produced by he others so that the possibility of introducing new bugs through not considering all side-effects of the bug fixes can be reduced. Some critical issues have got no positive answer. I mean * Issue "Applet crashes if called more than once" (see bug tracker item 1761060) * Issue "New English mnemonics hide short cuts" partly communicated in forum partly in our direct mails. Hidden short cuts are alt+V (paste format), alt+I (Select Icon dialog) and possible further issues. * I have also raised a problem that user defined icons are currently not exported to HTML. I can write a bug fix, but in one private mail Chris has ordered not to address this issue in 0.9.0 at all. So we have following problems: I am prohibited in fixing items because of the possible side effects, but nobody else wants to fix them. Important bug reports and issues addressed in Forums and in Wiki do not get any answer which course nothing but frustration and resignation by me and by the active users reporting them due to lacking appreciation and feedback. What can we do? I see following possible strategies for 0.9.0: 1. Quality Assurance through iterations and user feedback. This strategy means that you let me do the bug fixes everywhere and accept a probability of the side effects. Actually the most number of the already fixed bugs have been reported by the users, not by the internal testing. 2. Quality Assurance through accurate bug tracking. If the bugs may not be immediately fixed because I have no acceptance and Chris has no time, every important bug must be entered in the bug tracker and assigned to the responsible developer. The developer should write in what version the issue is expected to be fixed if the bug fix takes more than 1 week since it has been assigned. I hope that you find a time to address the problems and to find a solution. Best regards, Dimitry |
