I just signed up with this developer's list since I'm ready to implement the feature enhancement I requested on 12/29/2001 "Amplitude, Dynamics Processing". I call the algorithm I developed iAVC (integer Automatic Volume Control). I use the algorithm to reduce the dynamic range of my recordings, amplifying the quiet sections so I can hear them better when listening in my car. I downloaded the Audacity source Monday night and coerced it into compiling - with the help of the posts to the developer's list. I need to process both tracks at once, so it looks like my class cannot derive from EffectSimpleMono meaning I need to derive from Effect directly. My algorithm has a number of configuration settings which will make for a complicated Dialog. I have extensive MFC GUI experience and some Java GUI development so I hope to get an initial version working fairly soon. Most of my recent experience is with Windows, but I do have a Linux system and hope to learn enough so I can also test my work under Linux. I'm making my iAVC algorithm available under LGPL license. I'd like to verify that this OK with the Audacity team and see if you want me to put my algorithm (basically 3 files) in a separate directory under lib-src. The class derived from Effect will go into the src/effects directory, of course, and be under the Audacity license. I'm all ears to any advice you want to pass on. I'm looking forward to working with on this project. Vince vi...@bu... http://www.busam.com/skyland |
