Joshua and I spent all evening fixing the last few bugs, integrating the latest docs from Tony, and creating releases. The releases we've completed so far are here: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/thebigrelease/ The plan is to leave them there for 18 hours so you all have one last chance to make sure there are no showstopper bugs, or problems with compilation or installation. Here's how you can help: First of all, don't report any non-critical errors. I know that version 1.1 has lots of quirks and that version 1.0 isn't as nice, but for today, the only thing that will make me recompile any of these is a very severe bug, i.e. one which can makes the program or an important feature unusable. Now: If you run Windows, download the Windows installers and run them. Any installation problems? Any bugs in the program? Please try recording, saving, effects, etc. - try the new Ogg Vorbis exporting in version 1.0, too. If you run Linux, download the src tarballs instead of getting the code from CVS. Does configure, make, make install work? Any problems? Mac users: there are OS X builds now, and OS 9 builds are coming tomorrow... I also updated the (old) website to let people know that we're about to release. I'll switch in the new website in 18 hours if there are no problems with any of these builds. RPMs and DEBs will be added later. This is a huge milestone...thanks to everyone for all of your hard work, and if you do have any time today, please spend a few minutes admiring the finished result (and checking for any unexpected horrible bugs one last time)! - Dominic |
