Hi M=E1rton! Hello from Brazil, In the brazilian portuguese version we've had the same problem: things li= ke "snap-to" which have only 7 positions in english are translated like "antecipa=E7ao em", which is much longer. You will have to test the translated strings, because sometimes you can place a long string in place of a short english one, and there are spaces (notably the status bar and menus) that you will have to do something to make it shorter. (Like I did in the "snap-to off" case, that is translate= d in the status bar as "Antec. Desl.") That's it, in Brazil we use "working like a camel" :) Hugs, Cleber. ----- Original Message ----- From: "M=E1rton Bal=E1zs" <do...@ma...> To: <aud...@li...> Sent: Sunday, February 29, 2004 5:48 PM Subject: [Audacity-translation] Status-report from the hungarian translat= ion Greets to the entire translation-team! I'm M=E1rton Bal=E1zs, who is currently "working like a dog" (copyright= : John Lennon) on Audacity's hungarian translation. At this moment, I've done about 20%. But the hardest part is still back. I need to face the fact, that hungarian is a very long language. I mean, if an english sentence contains 10 words, this sentence can only understandable to a hungarian, if we use 15 words... Well, not always, but most of the time. I want to be exact, but not complicated. I'll be back soon with a few technical questions to the developer team. I wish a good work to everyone: Bal=E1zs M=E1rton ____________________________________________________________________ |
