As to why libsndfile and libmad aren't in the 1.3.4 tarball, I'm forwarding this to our developers' list. It may be we now expect these to be standard libraries on users' systems already. If you have the missing libraries installed as up-to-date shared libraries on your system, you can use those external copies. Otherwise you can obtain them from the links on this page: http://audacityteam.org/wiki/index.php?title=Developing_On_Linux Alternatively you can compile from the latest Beta/unstable development code from CVS: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/community/developers#cvs where libmad and libsndfile are included.
