James, The Audacity in CVS already supports simple skinning, that is where the images and colours change but not changing the sizes of the images. It's still an experimental feature. You would need to compile Audacity yourself and uncomment EXPERIMENTAL_THEMING and EXPERIMENTAL_THEME in experimental.h. We have an excellent new look from Greg Hardesty which we were planning to hold off using until version 1.2.0. However, I think it is important that we get the new look out to users as the default by early March, so that a large visible change is there in time for Google Summer of Code 2008. There is work to do on it still. The minimum is to get the 'down' versions of buttons into the 'image cache', as we only have good up buttons in there at the moment - fine for screenshots, but not for use. Try out the new theme, and this will give you familiarity with compiling Audacity, which you will need to be able to do if you're to help us with the code for skinning support. --James.
