During the past almost 1 year since I've been using Audacity, there have been several requests for plug-ins to remove extended periods of silence in such things as lectures. I haven't read anything (so far) in the Nyquist manual how to accomplish such a thing. I _suspect_ such a thing could be accomplished by first applying something like a noise gate... but then, how do I use nyquist to find an extended (pre-defined) period of zero amplitude signal and then delete it? Subject: [Audacity-users] Re: How to find gaps within an audio clip There is a very useful note about Tracksplit2 associated with the pages describing GramoFile v 1.4. It may be what you are looking for. Go to: http://panic.et.tudelft.nl/%7Ecostar/gramofile/ NB there is a Debian package of Gramofile v6 at: http://packages.debian.org/stable/sound/gramofile Gramofile also has some neat filters for dealing with impulse noise. regards Rob Wilkinson > Re: How to find gaps within an audio clip > 2005-03-02 10:48 > > This has been a fairly frequent question on the Audacity-users list, > I"ve > had no idea how to do such a thing either.
