The last release was almost one year ago. And I think the website could have a little facelift. I could do it for you guys if you wish. Even openoffice.org did it, why not audacity? ;) b) people are now accustomed to GNOME/Ubuntu/Fedora having this motto: "release early, release often". My point is that even if you don't have much in a release, you should at LEAST release once every six months, better if it's 3 months or less! Even if it is minor bugfixes and cleanup, this is important for "marketing". It shows your users that you are still doing stuff. And, maybe some people might join in instead of doing forks and everything. One example of very bad "marketed FOSS software" I have in my mind is PiTiVi. Bilboed did ONE release, and then continued working without putting even news or beta releases or anything, I had to force-kick his butt (by showing statistics of his sourceforge web account!) to be able to convince him to make a better website (you don't want to know what the old one looked like... terribly outdated and broken ;). Sorry for not replying too much, but I've been reading every UI-related discussion since then, it's just that I didn't reply unless I had something interesting to say. Jeff |
