This may or may not have merit, but there might be a relatively straightforward way to implement a pseudo scripting capability. My use of Audacity as a base for the derived "CleanSpeech" app centers around invoking a "chain of effects" that is quite fixed: - mp3 to wav (if applicable) - stereo to mono (if applicable) - normalize - click-removal etc. This can be for the file that is currently loaded, or an entire batch of files. Perhaps my usage isn't at all like others, but I would think some experienced users would like to have the capability of clicking on a "One Button Trigger" that had the result of firing off an arbitrarily defined series of effects that suited their purpose. The "Audacity CleanSpeech" app has a menu item and button for "CleanSpeech Chain" that triggers its "chain of effects". Perhaps the real Audacity app could consider having something similar (but named differently), and read a very simple script from a defined file to do something similar. It could either use presets for the effect parameters if they were 'persistent', or have the effect presets in the script. Just as an example, CleanChain might have something like: # Chain.aud Mp3ToWav StereoToMono Normalize ClickRemoval NoiseRemoval SpikeCleaner Leveler Normalize ExportMp3 Someone else might want to have the following happen: # Chain.aud Normalize Trim Repeat Just a thought. Feedback appreciated. A side effect is that the approach leads into being able to process an entire batch of files with the same "chain of effects". |
