Dominic, wandering the desert, crying out for DirectX help -- I hear you & want to help. :-) I'm sorry I've had so little time for Audacity all year. I'd really like to get that Change Pitch fix made (I haven't even pinpointed it or been in touch with Olli) and port it to a VST plug-in, but I could re-prioritize that, or make it a DirectX port first & combine the projects. Money would be motivating, of course, but I'm afraid a couple of hundred bucks wouldn't do much motivating, although I have no idea how big a project DirectX support would be. And I'd feel guilty getting paid when so many other contributors are doing so much more, gratis. And I noticed that you mentioned, Dominic, that you're paying for the AudacityTeam.org site. I hope you're doing so out of the Audacity donation funds, not your own. If we're going to pay developers, I think it ought to be something like an annual disbursal of some portion of Audacity donation funds, somehow proportional to each developer's contribution for the year. Seems much more fair So, it sounds like a "top" priority now, right? I can put it at the top of my Audacity agenda (after at least notifying Olli of the Change Pitch problem), and I *do* think I'll have more time for Audacity the next couple of months. How soon do you think we need it? (And "yesterday" is a reasonable answer!) -Vaughan |
