Hmmm, any chance you'd be interested in using Jack or PortAudio as the audio backend on OS X (and Windows, for that matter)? CoreAudio is rather subtle and pretty low-level. There are a couple of Mac APIs that are high-level and straightforward (QuickTime and Audio Units), but they're not designed to be as low latency as CoreAudio, nor would they give you any control over device selection. - Dominic |
