Clearly the first step for troubleshooting is for you to give me that sweet laptop so I can do some further testing. :) I've been aware of this problem for a while (Debian sets the DPI to 100 by default) and I'm not sure what the right way is to fix it. Our GUI depends on being able to fit a certain amount of text into a fixed number of pixels. We'll have to look into this more.
