By the way, I am creating stereo tracks with 1.2.0-pre2 on WinXP and
exporting as AIFF, but not before I use the "Normalize" function.  I am
noticing that when I open the file thus exported on the Mac using any
version of Audacity that the file is OK (now that we're past the mono
stuff), but that the normalize function has not in fact been applied.

On the WinXP machine, the processing takes place, there's much disk
activity, and the playback seems to take place at the adjusted level, but
the exported AIFF file seems to be the original.

I will try again to be sure, but this seems to have been consistent.
