I'm gonna have to respectfully disagree with Mark Tomlinson. :) Microsoft makes an installer tool available that'll build self-installers and .msi packages. I haven't used it, and I don't have a licensed copy of Visual Studio (which you're, uh, supposed to have), but here's a link. We're probably too close to working up a 1.2 release, but this might be worth considering for builds after the 1.2 release. (I'm gonna leave off the disclaimer that I might be on crack and/or not know what I'm talking about, you guys already know that, right?) Also, maybe this wasn't available a year ago? I don't know.... http://msdn.microsoft.com/vstudio/downloads/tools/vsi11/default.aspx It occurs to me that you may not be able to use it with just Visual C++. This one's free, with source provided, but not Free Software. http://www.labyrinth.net.au/~dbareis/makemsi.htm Here's a page that lists free, Free, and proprietary installer packages. (And yes, the commercial ones start at $499 and go over $1000 and certainly don't include source code) http://www.installsite.org/pages/en/msi/authoring.htm My personal favorite, although I've *never* used it, doesn't appear to support .msi packages. But it does have *all* of the advanced features that were mentioned earlier in this thread. (Yes, it's the one made by NullSoft of WinAMP fame, distributed under the zlib license) http://nsis.sourceforge.net/site/Home.2.0.html As with anything else, these tools are gonna be of varying quality and power, and it is easily possible that none of the free ones will meet the needs of Audacity. On the other hand, anyone happen to know whether or not ppcompiler or Onboard C will compile with .prc resource files? Failing that, know of any Free resource editor for PalmOS? :) Dave > - Dominic > > > > > ------------------------------------------------------- > This sf.net email is sponsored by:ThinkGeek > Welcome to geek heaven. > http://thinkgeek.com/sf > _______________________________________________ > Audacity-devel mailing list > Aud...@li... > https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/audacity-devel -- "Refuse to be denied, refuse to compromise "Your ideology always a lie "Imperialistic, colonialistic "Bandwagon patriot wake up to this" -Anthrax, "Refuse to be denied" |
