This is because when I > want to edit a single file, one uses Ctrl+O (from the file menu), but > when one wants to add files to a multitrack project one would use > Ctrl+I > or drag/drop. My only problem with this is that drag/drop onto an empty project is pretty similar to "open". The problem is that I can't think of a solution that wouldn't confuse at least some users. Beginning users will try to drag and drop a single 16 KHz wave file into a window, edit it, and then export it, and they will be surprised if they get a 44 KHz result. Experienced users might set the project rate to 48 KHz, then import their first track, which happens to be at 44 KHz, only to find that the project rate got set to 44 KHz even though that's not what they wanted. Would this be a good candidate for a dialog box? Two possibilities: 1. A warning box: "Warning: the audio file you imported is at 16 KHz, but the project sample rate is 44 KHz. To change the project sample rate, use the control in the lower-left corner of the window." [x] Don't show this warning again. [OK] 2. A choice: "The audio file you are importing is at 16 KHz, but the project sample rate is 44 KHz. What would you like to do?" (x) Change project sample rate to 16 KHz ( ) Keep project sample rate at 44 KHz (and automatically resample track) [x] Always do this next time [OK] - Dominic > RFC > > > Markus > > > > > ------------------------------------------------------- > This SF.Net email sponsored by: Free pre-built ASP.NET sites including > Data Reports, E-commerce, Portals, and Forums are available now. > Download today and enter to win an XBOX or Visual Studio .NET. > http://aspnet.click-url.com/go/psa00100003ave/ > direct;at.aspnet_072303_01/01 > _______________________________________________ > Audacity-devel mailing list > Aud...@li... > https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/audacity-devel |
