Update: Harvey says he can't do the Audacity logo in Illustrator, because the bevels and blurred drop shadows can only be done in Photoshop (or another bitmap program). I agree. If we have a vector logo it will have to be stylized and it will not look the same. I'd prefer a bitmapped logo that's at such a high resolution that we can scale it as large as we want without worrying about pixelation. Options: 1. Pay Harvey Lubin $150 to make a new bitmapped logo at 16x the size (4x horizontally and vertically). 2. Make Harvey Lubin an offer of a little less money plus more prominent advertising of his company on our website. 3. Find someone else to do a large bitmap version of the Audacity logo. Daniel's friend John offered to do it for $130, but I don't think there's much point in paying someone else unless they'll do it substantially cheaper, like $50 or less. The advantage of going with Harvey Lubin is that we _know_ he knows how to do it. The results are guaranteed. 4. Find someone else to do a stylized vector logo. I don't have a problem not going with Harvey in this case, since we're looking for something essentially different. But I'm wary of paying something as high as $150 unless we have some sort of guarantee that we're going to like it. I'd feel more comfortable with an Audacity user who'd be willing to do it for free, or paying a pro like Harvey who has a large online portfolio that we can look at before hiring. One last thought to ponder: We have more than $550. We can afford the $150. The T-shirts are a separate issue, since they can pay for themselves. I'd like to hear from more people on the list.
