Well, then I would say we get the people that do documentation and have them document the code as it is now, and I just stop coding for now. But I can tell you right now that documenting a code that is not even working is a hell of a fun. I mean, how do you want to know how the 1000 pieces of that code puzzle fit together if you cant try it? :) The thing is, its pretty hard to find enough people willing to learn the ways of the Arianne engine if it is not at least basicly working, let alone write extensive documentation. If we have that kind of people in Arianne, we are damn lucky! And I really hope it is possible... > Once we have a common understanding of the code-base, > ( what's it's intending to do, > how it does it, > where the big lumps of missing code are, > and how the existing bits of code interact) > /then/ we can go out , drag in lots of coders, and train them up the > server code learning curve in a reasonable length of time. > Our focus /for now/ has to be on making it possible to bring in (and > retain!) more coders. > Once we can do that, /then/ we'll move the code-base forward - and we > won't need to worry about ending up with only one or two coders on > the project again. The problem we had before was not that we didnt have enough programmers, but that we had a lot of programmers that pointed out mistakes and what needs to be coded better and where features are missing, but the only one coding was Miguel. Yes, a handful of people were doing minor coding, but like 90% of the coding did Miguel. Thats why he resigned. We not only need people that read and talk a lot, we also need people that actually code stuff. Thats why Miguel wrote that nothing did get finished in coding that he didnt do himself. I recommend we get some people together that have fun coding and learning new stuff and are having a great time experimenting with Arianne... SkyFlash |
