My idea of new market place is as following: Two NPCs - one for buying items from players, one for selling items. On the server side, there would be a list of items to be sold, accompanied with their prices. It would work more like a bazaar or flee market in this way. This would create the in-game economics that Stendhal really lacks. Use case: Player comes to the buyer NPC and offers him some items. The buyer takes the items and asks for price requested. The items are added to the offer list. Then another player comes to the seller NPC, and she offers the items for the requested price. When the items are sold, money withdrawal can be done at the buyer NPC. Intended scenario: In this short scenario we can see a player named 'PlayerA' buying 3 minor potions for 60 money and selling them for 105 money. If another player named 'PlayerB' buys these items, then 'PlayerA' gets the money in cash. Chapter #1: Checking price and buying items PlayerA: Hi SellerNPC: Hello, I sell items. Ask me 'offer' or 'offer goods'. PlayerA: offer SellerNPC: I sell: Helmet, Axe, Sword, Potion. Ask me e.g. 'offer helmet'. PlayerA: offer potion SellerNPC: I sell 3 minor potion for 20 money, 7 minor potion for 43 money, 4 potion for 150 money. PlayerA: buy 3 minor potion SellerNPC: 3 minor potion is 60 money. Do you want to buy it? PlayerA: yes SellerNPC: Serves you well! PlayerA: bye SellerNPC: Bye. Chapter #2: Selling items PlayerA: Hi BuyerNPC: Hello, in this bazaar, you can sell every item you wish. Currently, you are selling no item. PlayerA: sell 3 minor potion BuyerNPC: What price do you request for each one? PlayerA: 35 BuyerNPC: The offer was made. Thank you! Come back to request your money. PlayerA: bye BuyerNPC: Good bye. Chapter #3: Another player ('PlayerB') buys the items PlayerB: hello SellerNPC: Hello, I sell items. Ask me 'offer' or 'offer goods'. PlayerA: offer potion SellerNPC: I sell 3 minor potion for 35 money, 7 minor potion for 43 money, 4 potion for 150 money. PlayerA: buy 3 minor potion SellerNPC: 3 minor potion is 105 money. Do you want to buy it? PlayerA: yes SellerNPC: Serves you well! PlayerA: bye SellerNPC: Bye. Chapter #4: Final money withdrawal PlayerA: Hi BuyerNPC: Hello, in this bazaar, you can sell every item you wish. Currently, you are selling no item. In the mean time, you made 105 money. PlayerA: withdraw BuyerNPC: Here is your money. Thank you for using our market place! PlayerA: bye BuyerNPC: Good bye. Note: To prevent buying and selling repeatedly, we can introduce some tax (let's say 5% of requested price) or some fee for item listing. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: schmidta_ (schmidta_) Date: 2007-03-20 09:27 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1744340 Originator: NO It would be great to have something like a trading interface, where both sides have to accept the trade. Without dropping anything to the ground. Just an idea: * two windows where each player could put his part of trade * each window has 2 buttons 'accept' and 'reject' The players will put there items in the window and if one clicks 'reject' the trade is aborted. If both press 'accept' the trade is done. This would be really nice to have because of the annoying players who steal items. An other advantage of this is that its easier to tell new players and it can be done anywhere - without a table or something. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Katie Russell (kymara) Date: 2007-03-14 15:35 Message: Logged In: YES user_id=1560922 Originator: NO I would say that the trading table in semos townhall covers this? ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Comment By: Nobody/Anonymous (nobody) Date: 2006-09-18 18:46 Message: Logged In: NO Thoughts: this could also be implemented using an intermediary NPC or NPCs. ---------------------------------------------------------------------- You can respond by visiting: https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?func=detail&atid=351111&aid=1476354&group_id=1111 |
