Audience

Developers, SaaS companies, startups, agencies, founders, and businesses that send transactional or marketing email and want to reduce recurring ESP costs. Ideal for teams looking for an alternative to SendGrid, Resend, Mailgun, Mailchimp, Amazon SES or other email providers due to rising costs, per-contact pricing, vendor lock-in, data privacy requirements, or the need for greater infrastructure control. Best suited for AWS users who want unlimited contacts and to own their email infrastructure and customer data.

About sendbunny

SendBunny is an AWS-native, self-hosted email platform for startups, developers, SaaS teams, and businesses that want more control over their email infrastructure.

It deploys into the customer’s own AWS account and uses Amazon SES for delivery. SendBunny combines transactional email APIs, marketing campaigns, unlimited contacts, templates, analytics, suppression management, multiple sending domains, a team inbox, and MCP support for AI workflows in one platform.

Unlike other email providers that charge recurring fees based on contacts or usage tiers, SendBunny is available for a $199 one-time license. Customer data and application infrastructure remain inside the user’s AWS account.

SendBunny is designed for teams looking for an alternative to Resend, SendGrid, Mailgun, Mailchimp, and similar email platforms without giving up ownership of their infrastructure or building the full email layer around Amazon SES themselves.

"Best email platform for transactional and marketing "

    Posted 2026-10-11

Pros: One time fee, no vendor lock in and a full email platform with API & MCP.
The experience from product to onboarding was smooth.
Works great if you already have AWS production access or in the SES ecosystem already.

Cons: Must get AWS production access to use the product. Works great if you are already in SES.

Overall: I was already a SES user, so this felt like a breeze. I liked the platform experience was smooth, found no issues.

They are working on more features so definitely looking forward to it.
