BBEdit

Pros: By supporting Text Factories, the platform enables customers to build text processing workflows that are automated. This function streamlines complicated text conversions and automates repeated activities to increase efficiency.

Cons: Even though BBEdit is user-friendly, new users may need to invest some time in learning how to utilize all of its complex capabilities. On the other hand, consumers may gradually explore more complex features, and the fundamentals are intuitive.

Overall: BBEdit is a feature-rich and potent text editor designed specifically for macOS users. Its powerful text editing tools, sophisticated search and replace features, and extensibility via Text Factories are its main advantages.

Pros: When it comes to advanced features for search, text modification and automation, BBEdit delivers unparalleled performance and it’s hard to find a rival on the Mac. It handles enormous GB size documents at ease and has powerful shortcuts and many options for customization.

Cons: It can be said that it lacks features that would make it a proper integrated development environment, which is why it’s not my editor of choice any longer. It also takes time for the team to add new features to the app. Some may find the interface lacking buttons and visual cues.

Overall: Overall I would strongly recommend spending time getting to know this app under the hood. It’s far more powerful than what can be seen at first glance. Open the application presences window and read a bit in the manual and you’ll see why you will want to try this app. Plus, if you have basic text editing needs, the free tier is a perfect match.
