About Caxton
Caxton is a native macOS text editor built for files that break everything else: multi-gigabyte logs, CSVs past Excel's 1,048,576-row limit, SQL dumps, and single-line minified files. It memory-maps files instead of loading them into RAM, so a 10 GB, 80-million-line log opens immediately, a full-file search returns 1.6 million matches in 1.3 seconds, and memory stays under 200 MB. Large CSVs open as a typed, sortable, editable grid: sort 2 million rows numerically in 8.2 seconds, filter, dedupe, and edit cells, then save back to the same plain CSV file. Find and replace runs at scale, including Replace All across 1.6 million sites in 1.7 seconds as a single undo step, plus batch replacement pairs and find-in-files with previews and backups.
