Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • 💯 Very User-Friendly 💯 Easy to Adapt 💯 Comprehensive features 💯 Not resource demanding 💯 No installations--just go to the site! 💯 Can be customized!
  • Great for live streams, you have the option of live casting to multiple platforms, I like the option of paying a monthly or annual fee. You can stream from all the major social media outlets as well.
  • This software is like no other. It allows people to be able to stream across various platforms and has a professional setup, similar to news channels. The split screen feature is great. StreamYard also allows for information to be displayed to viewers on a scrolling marquee.
  • I host a talk show and recently tried StreamYard after using another streaming application for almost two years. It is easy to use. The best part is the ease in playing my brand's video before my interviews. No more sharing a screen to do so as with another streaming service! Love it! Further, it is a plus that we can share our guests' names and even a ticker tape. I am still learning. My first live went without a hitch.
  • I love that StreamYard is so user friendly. I like to think I'm techie, but I'm not really. However, StreamYard makes is so easy to livestream to multiple platforms at once and the platform itself makes me look like a techie. I've received so many compliments on how cool my livestreams look.

Cons

  • One thing that I find missing is to be able to have a feature where we get to have a background music in our streams, as of the moment what we do is we do load it straight from share screen then just hide the share screen window.
  • I don't have cons at this time as I just started using the program.
  • Initially, it was difficult for me to connect the app to Facebook. Facebook made it difficult to find on their platform. Another problem that I noticed is that there’s a delay from when a viewer types something in the chat until when it appears on screen.
  • This is not a major con but when guests share their screen, I have to admit their screen into the studio.
  • Um...there's nothing I don't like about StreamYard.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • First off, there is an Error in this comparison description. vMix is not made or affiliated in any way with NewTek. That being said vMix is the premiere new kid on the block that have raised the bar significantly for everyone else, including NewTek. (although NewTek is mainly a hardware solution with software) vMix has excelled in newer, popular features and seems to be coming out with more features every six months or so. I see how all the "Old-School" companies are bad-mouthing vMix as being "just a toy" because they are genuinely scared of losing their clientele to vMix... as they should be. vMix has boldly added just about everything, but the kitchen sink, and they don't apologize for it. Everything it does, it does well, or at least pretty darned well. Their integration of dedicated Call-In features along with NDI & SRT support is notably featured and it all comes at an affordable price.

Cons

  • It's hard to post cons as I really really had to think hard to come up with a couple aspects that I honestly think they might be taken as trite points. vMix's User Interface feels a little clunky making the learning curve just a bit harder than it has to be. The program writers who designed this platform are obviously not seasoned Professional Content Producers (as seen in their own sales and weekly promotional pieces). This leaves us with a kind of "Computer-Geeky made" software that does not always fit in the "traditional" production environment that we're comfortably used to. That's not to say that there aren't work-a-rounds and/or newer ways to skin a cat. Also, there are a few features that any professional would think should have been obvious and included, that for the life of me, I can't understand that after many many feature requests, the nice fella's down under just don't seem to implement or even entertain the thought of adding certain features. One, for example would be some sort of a waiting "Green" room for the Call-In folks. Whoever comes up with this protocol first IMHO is going to instantly garner the whole market... like overnight.
