Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • Easy to connect to other streaming services. Support is helpful. Website is decent. Statistics are available.

Cons

  • Many of the features are not available on the app like they are the browser version. (The app needs tech work). I don’t think Podbean offers a whole ton of exposure. People don’t want to download the app. Statistics are all in GMT for some odd reason. you can only go live for a certain period of time based on your host level which sucks. Podbean seems like a beginner app.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • - SoundCloud has a lot of underrated artists and various types of music on their platform. - The user interface of the application is clean and easy to use. - It is available on all the platforms. - The output quality of the songs is high and crystal clear to hear. - There are a lot of curated playlists available according to moods.
  • - SoundCloud is easy and intuitive to use. - It is a good platform to get started as an artist. - There are millions of songs and beats present on the platform. - The platform is ad-free.
  • I’ve been using it to start hosting some of my audio files for music and podcasts. It’s a great place to get started because their free version allows you to still upload a decent amount without any issue.
  • Soundcloud is the place to go to find the latest original works (tracks and podcasts), remixes, and samples. Its automated copyright detection system ensures that the audio files you can find are novel, and many up and coming artists got their start on Soundcloud. There is also what feels like a rudimentary social network system that you can use to find similar artists based on how they interact via comments and votes.
  • The free version has a cap with how many minutes you can upload, but the amount they allow is pretty generous and enough to test it out. Combined with some social media presence elsewhere, and this is a great place to upload your music or other audio. It's easy to upload, and you can choose whether or not someone can download your tracks.

Cons

  • - It ticks all the checkmarks and does not lack in any category. No cons in my opinion.
  • - The output sound quality on SoundCloud is average.
  • I mean, the limits for the basic version are not ideal. You only get 4 GB per month which is about 3 hours. This means a ton for music creators, but for podcast creators that can be limiting, depending on the length and frequency of your podcast episodes.
  • The interface on desktop wasn't the most intuitive for me. I endured feeling like I was at risk of going deaf for a few months before finally figuring out how to change the volume on individual tracks...
  • It's not as popular as YouTube, and I find Bandcamp is much better for finding specific, niche things. Soundcloud, like all the popular sites is also oversaturated with people so you really need to work to make yourself stand out from everyone else. Likewise, on the audience end, it's a mess to find something worth listening to.
