Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • ManageEngine firewall analyzer supports almost all firewalls. It offers you advanced features to analyze you firewall policies, monitor user activities It provides you detailed information about network traffic, bandwidth uses, security breaches if any.
  • Centralized Multi-Vendor Visibility: Aggregating and normalizing logs from different firewall vendors into a single, unified console eliminates blind spots and dramatically speeds up troubleshooting.
  • Demonstrates strong proficiency in analyzing firewall logs, policies, and security events using Firewall Analyzer. Effectively identifies policy violations, high-risk traffic, and configuration gaps to strengthen security posture. Collaborates well with network and security teams by providing accurate reports and actionable insights. Maintains consistent monitoring hygiene, ensuring alerts, compliance reports, and audit logs remain reliable and up to date.
  • ManageEngine Firewall Analyzer excels at centralizing firewall log analysis, giving security teams clear insights into threats, policy violations, and unusual traffic patterns across multiple firewalls. It supports detailed compliance reporting (e.g., PCI-DSS, ISO 27001), helps with rule base optimization, and simplifies forensic investigation with searchable logs and dashboards. Users often highlight that it reduces manual efforts in log interpretation, provides useful alerting, and integrates well with other IT security tools.
  • Strong reporting and real-time alerts provide excellent firewall visibility. Easy to use dashboard, smooth multi-vendor support, and stable performance with large log volumes.

Cons

  • We never encountered any major issues with ManageEngine firewall analyzer so far, but it should offer competitive pricing.
  • Resource Intensive: The on-premises deployment can be quite demanding on server resources (CPU and RAM and disk) when processing high-volume syslog streams during peak traffic times.
  • Can further enhance automation of scheduled reports and cleanup of outdated rule sets. Needs to improve documentation for policy changes, rule optimization, and device onboarding. Could benefit from deeper usage of advanced features like change tracking and policy optimization. Workload management during high-alert periods can be improved for quicker response times.
  • The platform’s user interface can feel dated and less intuitive, especially for first-time users, and configuring log sources and parsing rules sometimes requires manual effort. Some users report performance slowdowns or delays when processing high volumes of logs in large environments. Advanced analytics and visualizations are more limited compared with high-end SIEM solutions, and certain compliance/report templates may need customization or additional configuration.
  • The interface can feel slightly cluttered at first, and initial setup may take time. Advanced customization options could be more flexible and easier to configure.
