About Cloudflare

Cloudflare is the foundation for your infrastructure, applications, and teams. Cloudflare secures and ensures the reliability of your external-facing resources such as websites, APIs, and applications. It protects your internal resources such as behind-the-firewall applications, teams, and devices. And it is your platform for developing globally scalable applications. Your website, APIs, and applications are your key channels for doing business with your customers and suppliers. As more and more shift online, ensuring these resources are secure, performant and reliable is a business imperative. Cloudflare for Infrastructure is a complete solution to enable this for anything connected to the Internet. Behind-the-firewall applications and devices are foundational to the work of your internal teams. The recent surge in remote work is testing the limits of many organizations’ VPN and other hardware solutions.

"Good collection of services, generous free tier"

    Posted 2021-11-13

Pros: Pages and Workers are both useful products that encourage good project architecture. The DNS product doesn't do anything special other than CNAME flattening. The proxy product seems somewhat useful but it is hard to judge its effectiveness.

Cons: The UI/UX seem hastily thrown together--navigating the dashboard can be frustrating. Getting repeatedly logged out every time is also not fun (I have 2FA, why do I need to be logged out so often??). Also, I've had several Pages builds simply hang until the ~20min mark and suddenly cancel without any error message or log.

Overall: Good products, free tier allows a generous amount of experimentation, somewhat lacking in the user experience department.

    "Hidden Gem"

    Posted 2021-06-23

Pros: Great service to offer protection to my website. It was easy to set up and complete. Offered me protection that I did not know I needed and made my website load faster.

Cons: Don't have anything to say that this service lacked. Cloudflare provided my website protection and more.

Overall: A must have for any website. Most people that build their own websites don't know how important it is to have protection. Easy to use, simple interface and lots of tutorials.

    "Cloudflare, good online domain protection"

    Posted 2021-04-11

Pros: Cloudflare has allowed us to have a control of cyber threats in our domain and allows us to perform daily scans automatically or manually. It also offers detailed reports through metrics of how much is the user traffic within the page and predictive results in case it detects vulnerabilities.

Cons: We find it deficient as the application does not provide security in terms of detection and eradication of spyware or spam files. For companies like us, which have comment boxes where sharing attachments is allowed, we can not control those of dubious origin trafficked by users.

Overall: We feel that the application has a couple of notable shortcomings that are important for what it is intended for. However, the overall monitoring it provides for our domain seems to us to be sufficient to maintain state-of-the-art online computer security. We also recommend it for its accurate results that have allowed us to take timely action on more than one occasion.

"Cloudflare protects websites with maximum efficiency"

    Posted 2021-03-29

Pros: It is very useful as this application generates detailed reports of the traffic generated by our domains, so we determine how many users access and what is their main interest within the page. Similarly, it complies with a report management and control of web threats.

Cons: Although this application takes action through a network security software, it does not offer anti-spam functions, spyware removal or protection against attachments that have a dubious origin. This leaves a lot to be desired for users who really want to keep an eye on their domain security.

Overall: This application lacks many functions that are essential to perform tasks within a secure web. Although the functions that it does perform, it does them correctly in the face of any online threat, since it has a wider attack surface area.

"Cloudflare shows good results in improving the speed of our network"

    Posted 2021-03-21

Pros: Using Cloudflare it is possible to greatly optimize the performance, or at best the quality of performance that internet connections have, because it works as a system that balances web loads so that they deliver specific content. In addition, it is a perfect filter against all kinds of threats to our network.

Cons: Cloudflare focuses too much on the management of online threats, leaving aside entirely those that can make their way through other types of connections, demonstrating that it is not really an antivirus. The advantage of this situation is that, if configured to work with an antivirus, the online protection is even greater.

Overall: To protect against attacks on our network connections it is best to configure the Cloudflare firewall to act as intuitively as possible. We recommend it to avoid being a victim of threats such as web page forgeries, or processes that try to inject databases into our system.

"Cloudflare surprises with its security policies"

    Posted 2021-03-20

Pros: With the configuration tools that Cloudflare includes it is not difficult to improve the level of our websites, as it allows us to opt for features such as two-step authentication, and at the same time creates routine reports with the content of the pages that have been visited within the local network, which helps to delimit threat problems from their origin.

Cons: Cloudflare, despite having so many tools to track threats and manage them, is not really an antivirus, so it does not have any trunk or repair function in case of computer attacks. Nor is it possible to use it to carry out the elimination of spyware, or intrusions to our network.

Overall: What seems surprising about Cloudflare is the speed with which it can be configured to carry out visualizations of each vulnerability event that occurs on the local network, which ends up facilitating the creation of reports for prompt solutions. Cloudflare is quite useful for managing threats, but not directly eliminating them.

The best part of this is - It prevents the websites even from DDoS attacks, by absorbing the unnatural traffic in its different servers spread over the globe. Its one time process, Setup once and forget, Cloudflare will take care of the rest. All these feature are even in freemium version which make completely stand out of the others.
