About

Macsmith brings command-line developer tools into one native macOS GUI for inspecting and managing a local development environment. Manage Homebrew packages and services, switch runtimes with mise and nvm, run Docker through Colima, inspect Lima virtual machines, and start or stop local PostgreSQL, MySQL, and MongoDB services. Find which processes are using network ports, manage SSH keys, edit hosts files and shell aliases, and configure local HTTPS with Caddy and mkcert. The app also includes DNS utilities, ngrok and cloudflared tunnel controls, AWS CLI profile and rclone remote views, and developer cache cleanup. Inspect tool state for free; a one-time Pro license is required to install, update, start, stop, or otherwise change supported tools. Macsmith runs on Intel and Apple silicon Macs with macOS 14 or later.

About

Percona Backup for MongoDB is a distributed, low-impact solution for achieving consistent backups of MongoDB sharded clusters and replica sets. Percona Backup for MongoDB supports Percona Server for MongoDB and MongoDB Community v3.6 or higher with MongoDB Replication enabled. Percona Backup for MongoDB is an alternative for users who want a fully supported community backup tool, but do not want to pay for MongoDB Enterprise and Ops Manager. With easy command-line interface, you can perform consistent backup/restore of clusters and non-sharded replica sets, and improve cluster backup consistency. This saves you time and effort if you are implementing MongoDB backups for the first time.

Cons

  • Struggled with some documentation and support issues, took me some time to figure it out on my own. Things in the documentation are very much abstract, you need to really dwell deep to understand the mechanism of it.
  • Need more elaborate documentation for easy understanding. It will be very useful for great beginners.
  • Some time getting no backup found errors , unable to get solution to fix.
  • Time Consuming as backup is slower. Other than that, no other dislikes, hoping for better features.
  • Percona Backup for MongoDB doesn’t work on standalone MongoDB instances.
