About

LayerDock is a browser workspace for teams and clients to see website issues, capture the context, and share the fix. Nothing to download, no Chrome extension required. Create a Dock for any website and drop pins on live pages. Every pin auto-captures a screenshot, CSS selector, viewport size, console logs, network requests and browser/OS info. Share a client review link so clients can leave feedback without learning your dev workflow, while team notes stay private. Review across desktop, tablet and mobile, record your screen, inspect elements, run an in-browser accessibility audit and annotate screenshots. Assign pins, track status and reply in threads. Sync with Slack, Jira, Linear, GitHub, Trello and ClickUp, or send pins straight to coding agents like Claude Code and Cursor via MCP with full context. An alternative to BugHerd, Marker.io and MarkUp.io, with a free plan to start.

About

Loom is an AI-powered video messaging and screen recording platform designed to help teams communicate asynchronously with coworkers, customers, and other stakeholders. Users can record their screen, camera, or both through Loom’s desktop apps, mobile apps, or Chrome extension and then share the resulting video with a link or embed. The platform includes editing tools for trimming and stitching clips, adding text and visual annotations, and customizing video presentation. Collaboration features include comments, emoji reactions, tasks, calls to action, transcripts, captions, and multilingual support for distributed teams. Loom AI can turn recordings into written documentation and structured work items, including Jira issues that automatically capture technical context such as browser, operating system, console errors, and network activity. Enterprise features include SSO, SCIM, custom retention policies, privacy controls, viewer insights, and integrations with other software tools.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • Very good platform for recording videos for many purposes like meetings, intros, video demos and much more. Very light weight, desktop platform, the extension also makes it fairly easy to record anywhere on your desktop or browser.
  • Easy to use, quick way to send messages that would take a long time to type, like how I can track to see if the video was viewed.
  • Loom is SUPER easy to use. It's by far the easiest way to take a video or screen capture (with narration) and share quickly with anyone. Our teachers use it to record lessons and share them with their students - all they need to do is email or post the link to their video. It's great that they are just sharing the link, not the actual video file, so there is nothing to store or complicating file sharing service. Loom offers their product free for schools which is a great and generous service.
  • We use Loom primarily to train team members on new technologies or procedures. I love how easy it is to make an easily accessible video we both a video window and a nice big screen share.
  • Loom is a slick product, easy to use and good interface. I find it very helpful to record notes for my team on various task that they can use for reference. Also their transcript feature is very good, I often use it to record calls on Zoom instead.

Cons

  • Not necessarily a negative, but there is a time limit on recording if you don't have a pricing plan, which is fairly cheap, starting at just $10 a month.
  • Is sometimes slow switching from tab to tab quickly, but not a huge issue.
  • Loom is dependent on the Internet as part of the process of recording and saving the video content. While very rare, this can cause trouble as the Internet isn't always reliable.
  • No big complaints. The tool is fairly easy to use, but could be a bit more intuitive when you first start using.
  • No strong cons. The UI of their interface could be a bit more organized in terms of folder structures and the workspace, but otherwise it's a breeze to use.
