About

VidSmaller is a browser-based cloud video compressor for people who need to reduce file size for sharing, publishing, or storage. Users can upload common formats, including MP4, MOV, MKV, WebM, and AVI, then set a target output size or adjust CRF, resolution, bitrate, codec, and encoding preset. Compression runs on VidSmaller’s servers, and downloads have no added watermark; files are removed according to the service’s retention rules. It serves individuals, creators, educators, marketers, support teams, and developers preparing videos for email, messaging, social channels, websites, and storage. Its developer API supports compression jobs, progress retrieval, webhooks, upload-limit checks, and compression estimates. The service runs in modern browsers without local installation, including on Chromebook and iPad devices.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • I've only used this product for a few months but it has really helped me take home videos and convert them to h265 to save a lot of space with little video loss. The product is simple to use and does a good job helping you work through the complicated steps of converting video to different formats.

Cons

  • The first time I used this I tried to mess with frame rates and the video became very jerky . After that experience I decided to leave frame rates as is and change other options to achieve my compression goals.
