About

Next generation block styled editor. Meet the new editor, on our webpage you can see it in action. It is a block-styled editor, it returns clean data output in JSON, and it is designed to be extendable and pluggable with a simple API. Workspace in classic editors is made of a single contenteditable element, used to create different HTML markups. Editor.js workspace consists of separate Blocks: paragraphs, headings, images, lists, quotes, etc. Each of them is an independent contenteditable element (or more complex structure) provided by Plugin and united by Editor's Core. There are dozens of ready-to-use Blocks and the simple API for creation any Block you need. For example, you can implement Blocks for Tweets, Instagram posts, surveys and polls, CTA-buttons and even games. Classic WYSIWYG-editors produce raw HTML-markup with both content data and content appearance. On the contrary, Editor.js outputs JSON object with data of each Block.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • Froala is easy to integrate and provides a clean, professional editing experience. The configuration options are flexible, the documentation is clear, and the available plugins cover most common requirements, including images, tables, links, formatting, and file management. It also produces cleaner HTML than many other rich-text editors I have tested.
  • Froala’s simplicity and clean UI make it a pleasure to embed into custom applications. The documentation is solid, and it integrates smoothly with JavaScript and frameworks. The real strength is how lightweight and customizable it feels; especially when you extend it with AI features like contextual writing.
  • What really stood out to me first was how good the documentation is. They even provide live JSFiddle examples to quickly test features, that’s a big win for developers like me who don’t want to spin up a full project just to see something in action. I also like how well it integrates with so many frameworks. Although I mostly work with ReactJS, and the experience has been smooth and reliable so far. The level of customizability is another major plus. It’s regularly updated, so I rarely run into compatibility issues. And if I ever need something specific, the plugin system keeps things modular and clean. I’ve tried editors free editors before, they’re fine, but the outdated documentation with weird fixes that you find on old stackoverflow, made things tougher. Froala, on the other hand, actually feels like a polished, enterprise-grade product.
  • Froala looks clean, works smoothly, and drops right into my projects without any headaches. No wasting time on tricky setup or extra code. It just works. Plus, since it’s lightweight, my app stays super fast, which is awesome when speed really matters
  • Fast, lightweight, and efficient. The Froala Editor is impressively quick Developer-friendly, highly customizable. With a modular, plugin-based architecture, Froala integrates easily into a variety of frameworks (React, Angular, Vue, Rails, Django, etc.). You can tailor toolbars, icons, popups, inline styles, and more. Responsive & mobile-optimized. It supports responsive behavior across devices, including image and video resizing on both Android and iOS. Notably, Froala was among the first editors to offer toolbar customization per screen size. Strong documentation and support. Official docs are comprehensive, providing examples and integration guidelines.

Cons

  • The pricing may be expensive for small projects compared with open-source alternatives. Advanced customization can also require additional development time, especially when modifying plugin behavior or upload workflows.
  • The pricing can feel steep for small teams, and initial plugin configuration takes some tweaking. Would love to see more native AI integrations built in.
  • That said, the pricing can be a bit steep for smaller teams or early-stage projects. Unless a text editor is a core part of your product, you can probably stick with free, open-source options for a while. Since Froala isn’t open source, you’re dependent on their support team if something breaks which is fine for enterprise setups, but not ideal for smaller projects.
  • Not the most budget-friendly option if you’re working on smaller projects or on your own.
  • The editor is not free. For many use cases (especially OEM, SaaS, or enterprise), pricing may exceed budgets. While basic features are easy to adopt, fully leveraging advanced customization and plugins may require a learning curve.
