About

Dropbox Business is more than just secure file storage—it’s a smart workspace where teams, tools, and content come together. Create, store, and share cloud content from Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides, Microsoft Office files, and Dropbox Paper alongside traditional files in Dropbox. Dropbox Spaces brings your files and cloud content together, so that your PowerPoints can live next to your Google Docs, Trello boards, and whatever tools your team wants to use. Easily access your team’s work from your computer, mobile device, or any web browser. Keep your team’s files and the conversations about them in the same place by connecting tools like Slack and Zoom. Intelligently suggested files and folders keep your team one step ahead by giving everyone the content they need, when they need it. A secure, distributed infrastructure—plus admin tools for control and visibility—keep your company’s data safe on Dropbox.

About

Kenesto is a cloud-based storage solution for managing engineering, design, and construction documents. Kenesto is much less expensive than enterprise PDM solutions but provides automatic file locking, versioning, vaulting, 2D/3D viewing, and web-based design review tools not found in consumer-grade cloud storage solutions such as Dropbox and Google Drive. The solution behaves like a mounted disk in the customer's office but the with a single source of truth in the cloud. File locking prevents users from overwriting each other's data. All versions of all files are stored in perpetuity. Using the familiar user interface of Windows Explorer, files and folders are arranged in the same way as one would expect for a C Drive. Kenesto includes tasks and workflows. A plugin for SolidWorks is available for no charge. All file transfers from the user’s local computer to the cloud are encrypted. All files are stored in secure AWS S3 and are encrypted.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • At this point, dropbox is one of the few apps I rely on regularly for both work and personal projects. Between work projects, personal files, and random documents I swear I'll organize someday, dropbox has become one of the apps I rely on the most. Most of my work involves sharing documents, project files, and folders with other people, and dropbox makes that process super easy. I like that I can save something on my laptop and access it later from my phone or another computer without having to email files to myself (which I used to do way more than I'd like to admit).
  • I’ve been using Dropbox mainly for storing and sharing documents with my team, and it works really well. The syncing across devices is smooth, and I never have to worry about losing files.
  • I like the automatic synchronization ensures that documents are always up to date on all devices. In addition, collaboration features such as document comments and shared folders facilitate teamwork and improve communication. Security is another advantage, with encryption and two-factor authentication options that protect our sensitive data.
  • Dropbox's security is a highlight. It uses encryption both in transit and at rest, which is crucial for protecting sensitive company data. The ability to set detailed file sharing permissions helps ensure that only authorized people can access critical information. In addition, integration with other productivity tools and platforms is a major benefit.
  • I use Dropbox regularly, and I find it super helpful for keeping my files safe and organized. It is easy to use, and I love how I can access my documents on any device, whether it is my phone, tablet, laptop or even through a web browser. The synchronization feature is great, and it ensures that my files are always up to date. The security is top notch too, with encryption that keeps my file very safe. I also love the fact that Dropbox integrates smoothly with other products like Google Workspace and Microsoft Office, making collaboration more convenient without switching platforms. Another great feature is the offline access, which allows me to work on files even without Internet. Also, I can restore deleted files or access previous versions, which is a lifesaver when things go wrong.

Cons

  • The biggest downside is the limited storage on the free plan. If you work with large files like videos, high-resolution images, or project archives, you'll probably run out of space much faster than expected. The paid plans solve this issue, but they can feel a bit expensive compared to some competing cloud storage services. I've also noticed that syncing large folders can occasionally be slower than I'd like, especially when uploading a lot of files at once. Another minor frustration is that sharing permissions can sometimes be confusing, particularly when collaborating with multiple people on different folders and projects. While none of these issues are dealbreakers, they can occasionally interrupt an otherwise smooth experience.
  • Free storage is quite limited compared to other cloud services
  • One aspect that can be frustrating is permissions management, which is sometimes confusing and requires detailed attention to avoid access errors.
  • While security is generally good, the lack of full control over the storage infrastructure can be a concern for some companies that handle highly sensitive information.
  • One downside of Dropbox is that the free plan only gives you 2GB of storage, which can fill up fast, if you have a lot of files. Also, the platform's search feature is not the best as it can be tricky to find files based on specific details like size or type.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • Kenesto is a very easy to use file management tool that has enabled our organization to utilize remote workers much more efficiently than traditional local servers ever did. Kenesto provides a great way to keep track of file revisions and archive our work progress.

Cons

  • There always seems to be an update to the program. I feel like I am installing a new update every week.
