Pros & Cons from Real Users Pros ConnectWise Automate truly shines when it comes to robust automation — the ability to patch multiple devices simultaneously is a massive time-saver, freeing up IT professionals to focus on higher-priority work. Its proactive monitoring and alerting capabilities are comprehensive, sending notifications for issues like low disk space or connectivity problems before they become critical — a huge win for MSPs trying to stay ahead of client issues. The scripting and automation features are flexible and powerful, and the remote access options are robust, making it a solid, reliable choice for IT teams managing distributed environments. The tight integration with ConnectWise PSA and ScreenConnect as a primary connection surface is a standout advantage for shops already in the ConnectWise ecosystem. ConnectWise Automate provides real-time monitoring of endpoints and generates alerts for potential issues. This proactive monitoring helps IT teams address issues promptly, minimizing the impact on end-users. Ticketing and alerting is excellent and often resolves most known issues automatically. You have the ability to add scripts which would assist the automation and resolution process. The functionality of the scripts is great. The systems can reboot overnight and can be pushed through windows updates—and the whole thing can be monitored. You can easily use SQL Queries to create reports for NOC operations. Very powerful RMM tool. There is almost no limitation to what you can do with ConnectWise Automate. The scripting engine allows you to create automation tasks using their basic scripting functions or use your own with a PowerShell script. Cons Getting up and running with ConnectWise Automate does take some patience — the initial setup and configuration can be time-consuming, and ongoing maintenance requires dedicated expertise that smaller teams may find challenging to sustain. Patch management, while functional, remains an area with some room for improvement, and reporting inconsistencies can occasionally require a bit of manual follow-up to keep everything tidy. Some users transitioning from simpler RMM solutions may find the interface a lot to take in at first, and the feature gap between the web version and the installed client can take a little getting used to While powerful, ConnectWise Automate's extensive features may be considered overkill for smaller IT teams or businesses with simpler IT infrastructure. Implementing only the necessary features may require careful configuration. Support is not the greatest in terms of time to respond though very knowledgeable once engaged. It can be very difficult to set up. The UI is too complex and hard to understand. Support is limited for Linux and OS X systems. The solution is aging a bit and needs to be updated to support more cloud centric thinking. Still stuck in the age of on-premise solutions and ignoring things like Microsoft 365.
