About

Better Stack is an eBPF-based, AI SRE observability tool that helps you ship better software, faster. Schedule on-call rotations, receive actionable alerts, and resolve incidents with ease. Better Stack brings together incident management, uptime monitoring, status pages, log management, and infrastructure monitoring – all in one place. Built for speed and scale, it combines multiple monitoring and alerting workflows into a single, powerful interface that boosts visibility and slashes response times. Key features include an OpenTelemetry-native Kubernetes collector powered by eBPF, real-time alerting, and collaborative dashboards. Under the hood, Better Stack runs on ClickHouse, enabling lightning-fast queries and scalable ingestion across high-cardinality datasets. You can visualize your entire stack, turn all your logs into structured data, and query everything with SQL – as if it were a single database. Seamlessly integrates into your workflow with 100+ integrations.

About

Nagios Core is the monitoring and alerting engine that serves as the primary application around which hundreds of Nagios projects are built. Nagios Core serves as the basic event scheduler, event processor, and alert manager for elements that are monitored. It features several APIs that are used to extend its capabilities to perform additional tasks, is implemented as a daemon written in C for performance reasons, & is designed to run natively on Linux/*nix systems. Alerts with escalation capabilities are delivered to IT staff via email and SMS to ensure fast detection of outages. Event handlers can automatically restart failed applications, servers, devices, and services when problems are found. Gain a centralized view of your entire IT operations and review detailed status information through the web interface.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • Able to monitor my clients websites by keyword, hosting and different ways. Able to create status reports. Receive sms and phone call is a site goes down. Great UI.
  • Uptime is a reliable and complex solution for us. Great plus are the advanced escalation policies and heartbeats, checking if our background jobs get done.
  • Simple setup. Highly reliable (didn't miss a thing so far). Friendly UI, intuitive workflow. Heartbeats for CRON jobs are a great touch. Highly customizable call scheduling. Loads of integrations. Helpful and friendly support.
  • Easy to setup and use. Intuitive design and UX. Free tier is really good for being free. Checks every 3 minutes. Monitors for prescheduled tasks. Very reliable.
  • Fast and reliable incident reporting. Error screenshots and logs. Ping checks every 30 seconds. Heartbeats checking cronjobs. Customizable status pages on custom subdomains.

Cons

  • Sometimes I get notifications saying a site is down but it's not. It's a bit confusing to set up. I don't know what's happening when it gives me error code for some reason but website has not gone down.
  • I didn't really notice any big issues with the service's functionality. We'd appreciate Dark Mode, Telegram integration and some of the advanced features could be available on their lower-tier plans.
  • Status pages lack a few features, but it seems some related updates are coming soon.
  • I'm a student and payed plans are out of my reach, but no big problem with free tier.
  • I'd welcome some of the advanced features in the freelancer plan. Otherwise, not much to complain about.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • The online resources available make using Nagios a breeze. The installation was simple to do following documentation and online video tutorials.

Cons

  • Super busy website . Had to click more than one download button. But honestly that was the worst of it. Not bad.
