About

Azure Virtual Desktop (formerly Windows Virtual Desktop) is a comprehensive desktop and app virtualization service running in the cloud. It’s the only virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) that delivers simplified management, multi-session Windows 10, optimizations for Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise, and support for Remote Desktop Services (RDS) environments. Deploy and scale your Windows desktops and apps on Azure in minutes, and get built-in security and compliance features. Bring your own device (BYOD) and access your desktop and applications over the internet using an Azure Virtual Desktop client such as Windows, Mac, iOS, Android, or HTML5. Choose the right Azure virtual machine (VM) to optimize performance and leverage the Windows 10 and Windows 11 multi-session advantage on Azure to run multiple concurrent user sessions and save costs.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • Its seamless integration with Microsoft ecosystem ensures a familiar environment for users already using Microsoft 365 services.
  • The flexibility it offers in accessing desktop environments from anywhere, at any time has proved to be a game changer for us. The scalability is impressive allowing our team to adapt seamlessly to changing workloads. Also the centralized management simplifies administrative tasks.
  • Simplified management, secured and fast logon. You can restrict who should have access to applications.

Cons

  • It is a powerful solution but there are some considerations like the initial setup & configuration may require expertise in cloud services & virtualization.
  • While Azure virtual desktop is a robust solution, the initial setup & collaboration can be a bit complex. It required careful planning & expertise. Additionally the cost structure, while competitive, may pose challenges for organizations with budget constraints, not for us but for small/medium enterprises.
  • Requires experience to setup. Aside that the solution is amazing. For organization of all sizes and businesses..

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • Splashtop did the job for me, like a trusty utility. Was user friendly and didn't require a lot of learning to get rolling with it.
  • Fast, reliable, easy to use and implement. File transfer is fantastic as well as multi-screens and shared access with other users. Most impressively, it is inexpensive and considerably cheaper than competing solutions.
  • The product does as advertised: allows you remote access to your devices. I don't use this often, but any time I have a saved file on my home/work computer that I need access to I hop on here and email it to myself. It works like a charm, and the mobile app is fantastic.

Cons

  • Wish this could be paid in a monthly rather than only annual subscription since I use it so infrequently.
  • Occasional maintenance (but un-intrusive and late at night).
  • I have not noticed any cons while using this software.
