Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • The Plangrid application has been very useful for project management and the activities that will be performed for its completion. It offers tools and allows us to create in detail each task to be performed for such projects. In addition to this, so that the information arrives completely, to each activity we can add a reference photograph or an explanatory video so that the instruction is understood correctly to all collaborators.
  • It is an application that is excellent for issuing short and clear comments and suggestions on a given project site, in addition to which images, audio and video can be used to detail the given observation. In addition, its platform is very simple and provides accessibility to projects quickly.
  • Within Plangrid we generally plan the whole process that will be carried out to build a building. For this we usually use the photo viewer system that is included internally, to review and verify the project plans, and all the observations and notes that are made on top of them, as they can be superimposed with information.
  • Since PlanGrid allows you to work with a completely unlimited number of sheets, it is convenient to be able to overlay sheets with plans and documents over and over again without any problems, allowing you to create new sample content on the work of other employees. The dozer plan only costs $60 per month, and offers 5,000 sheets to work with.

Cons

  • We have had difficulties when comparing activities and results with the option of overlapping plans since the application becomes slow or stops sometimes. Similarly, it does not have an offline storage option so employees must remain with a working internet connection or the information stored in the cloud will never be synchronized.
  • If you have poor internet signal, updating and synchronization of the projects displayed in Plangrid on several devices at once can present problems, the platform becomes slow and functions such as overlaying plans when you need to compare activities or results are difficult.
  • The level of synchronization obtained through Plangrid is relatively poor when verifying different plans that are in more than one terminal. When hyperlinks are created within the plans they often do not lead to any web page even if they have already been programmed with a specific destination to which they should lead.
  • The crane plan, as opposed to the dozer plan, is twice as expensive, and despite offering an unlimited number of sheets there are not many improvements in terms of photo and document management. In terms of budget options, Plangrid also doesn't have much to offer by leaving out basic features such as tracking.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • The estimating functionality is one of the strongest parts of Methvin. Its first-principles estimating approach allows users to build costs using resources such as labor, materials, plant, and productivity rather than relying solely on historical averages. This gives estimators more control over how project costs are developed and reviewed.
  • Methvin stands out because it builds estimates from real labor, plant, and material costs rather than leaning on outdated historical figures. That extra level of detail gives project teams genuine confidence when putting together competitive bids. The interface feels straightforward, collaboration is smooth, and everyone stays aligned around the same numbers. For organizations managing multiple tenders at once, it reduces manual effort and helps avoid the estimating mistakes that can quietly drain budgets.
  • Strong collaboration features Real-time cloud access makes it easy for estimators, project managers, and leadership teams to work from the same data set, reducing miscommunication and version conflicts. End-to-end project visibility The integration of takeoffs, estimating, scheduling (Gantt charts), and job costing gives a clear picture from bid stage through project execution.
  • First-Principles Estimating Builds Client Confidence Calculating costs from the ground up improves accuracy and makes assumptions transparent critical when advising clients on risk and margin protection. Customizable Workflows That Fit Different Business Models Methvin adapts well to varying organizational structures, allowing teams to standardize processes without forcing a one size fits all approach.

Cons

  • Because Methvin covers a large number of construction processes, new users may need time to become familiar with the platform. Organizations implementing several modules at once should allow sufficient time for configuration, training, and establishing internal workflows.
  • The platform has a learning curve for users transitioning from spreadsheets, and some advanced features take time to master. Smaller teams doing basic estimating might not immediately tap into everything the software offers. That said, the pricing feels premium upfront, but it gets easier to justify as you adopt more features across your projects.
  • Interface can feel dense at first While powerful, some users may need initial guidance to fully understand where everything sits within the platform. Best value realized with regular use Smaller teams or infrequent estimators may not immediately leverage all the advanced capabilities.
  • Onboarding Requires Commitment To unlock Methvin’s full value, teams need time to configure workflows and train users this isn’t an instant plug and play tool. Consultants and executives may initially find the depth of detail overwhelming without tailored dashboards.
