About

Appvia Wayfinder is a trusted infrastructure operations platform designed to increase developer velocity. It enables platform teams to operate at scale by providing self-service guardrails for standardisation. Supporting integration with AWS, Azure, and more, Wayfinder offers self-service provisioning of environments and cloud resources using a catalogue of manageable Terraform modules. Its built-in principles of isolation and least privilege ensure secure default configurations, while granting fine-grained control to platform teams over underlying CRDs. It offers centralized control and visibility over clusters, apps, and cloud resources across various clouds. Additionally, Wayfinder's cloud automation capability supports safe deployments and upgrades through the use of ephemeral clusters and namespaces. Choose Appvia Wayfinder for streamlined, secure, and efficient infrastructure management.

About

LocalOps offers a modern cloud neutral Internal developer platform for lean engineering teams using AWS/Google cloud/Azure, that are lacking DevOps skillset or suffering with slow release cycles with DevOps bottlenecks. Teams get vercel/fly/heroku like developer experience on their own cloud account. Teams can connect their AWS account (or GCP or Azure account) & Github repositories and launch services in under 30 minutes. All without configuring AWS resources themselves, writing Dockerfiles, CI/CD configuration or Terraform scripts. They get self-serve access to AWS, make automatic deployments using Git-push, observe logs & metrics from day 1 using pre-configured open source monitoring stack - Grafana/Prometheus/Loki, auto-scale infinitely on their own cloud account at a fraction of cost. If there are cloud credits available, they can be used to pay for cloud resources. Teams deploy, observe, automate and scale applications on their own cloud account.

Audience

Designed to empower application and platform teams

Audience

Software engineering teams at startups, mid-sized companies, and enterprises deploying on AWS, GCP, or Azure. Ideal for CTOs and developers at B2B SaaS companies managing multi-tenant or enterprise deployments, DevOps-lean teams looking to eliminate infrastructure bottlenecks, and enterprises that need BYOC (Bring Your Own Cloud), single-tenant, or self-hosted deployment options for their own customers. Also suited for teams migrating away from Heroku, Render, Vercel, or Fly.io who want full control over their cloud without the DevOps overhead.

Pros & Cons from Real Users

Pros

  • Powerful automation capabilities. Robust security features. Simple to plug-in to existing cloud providers.
  • Efficient Provisioning: I love how Wayfinder allows me to provision environments and cloud resources on my own. It's intuitive and saves me a lot of time. Unified View: The centralised control feature is fantastic. It gives me a clear overview of all my clusters, apps, and cloud resources across different clouds. Customization: The access to underlying CRDs is a big plus. It lets me tweak the configurations to meet my specific needs. Automation: The automation of ephemeral clusters and namespaces for testing has made my deployment and upgrade processes much smoother. Security: I feel secure using Wayfinder. Its design principles of isolation and least privilege ensure that configurations and access are secure by default.
  • The implementation of isolation principles and visibility across all clouds are the most notable pros.
  • The end-to-end self-service, fine-grained control, and cloud automation features are beneficial. Visibility controls enable a centralized view of cloud applications and resources.
  • The centralised and fine-grained control of clusters and cloud resources is truly beneficial to our work.

Cons

  • Overwhelming number of customization options. Needs best help tooltips.
  • Learning Curve: It took me some time to get the hang of all the features Wayfinder offers. It's a robust platform, but there's a bit of a learning curve.
  • There are no identified cons at this point. Everything works perfectly so far.
  • I've found any and issues with the Appvia Wayfinder so far.
  • No significant negatives found at this stage, bar an expected learning curve.
